FAQ: What does the priority deadline mean?

The priority deadline is the date students must file their FAFSA to receive priority consideration in the financial aid awarding process. For WWU, the priority deadline is January 31, of every year. The priority deadline determines the type of funding you will be eligible for and when you are awarded. Priority funding may include State, Federal and Western grants as well as work study funds. Students who meet the deadline are considered for all forms of financial aid available for someone with their EFC. Students who do not meet the deadline are considered for limited forms of financial aid. You may contact our office to verify the date the Federal Processor received your FAFSA.
