How to Find Scholarships For Students With Disabilites

Private Scholarships

Private scholarships are posted in the Scholarship Center. New information may come into the Scholarship Center that is not listed below, so stop by our office on a regular basis.


Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Awards
To be eligible for these awards, you must be legally blind; be registered with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic for at least one year prior to February 21st of the current academic year (individually or through an institution); have received a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States or its territories between a specific time period; and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0.

National Federation of the Blind Scholarship
The National Federation of the Blind Scholarship is offering 26 scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be (1) legally blind and (2) pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time post-secondary course of study in the fall semester in the U.S. One scholarship may be given to a full-time employee also attending school part-time.

The World Wide Web is one of the fastest and easiest ways to look for scholarships. We do not recommend that you pay for scholarship search information. The following is a list of web site addresses to help get you on your way. After trying these, you can also click on the "Search" button on your web browser and use keywords such as scholarships and disability to see if there are more sites that you might want to try. The Scholarship Center has a computer with internet access available for students to use.

Fastweb
One of the largest free scholarship search services on the internet. Searchable database of more than 275,000 scholarships, fellowships, grants, and loans. Students register online and fastWEB responds with a list of matching award programs. You can indicate your disability(s) when filling out your information for the scholarship search. To select more than one disability, hold the "Control" key down and click on your selections.

Fundfinder
This site contains a free web version of the College Board's Fund Finder scholarship database. The College Board's database contains listings of scholarships, fellowships, loans, internships, and other types of financial aid programs from 3,300 national, state, public, and private sources. You can indicate your disability(s) when filling out your information for the scholarship search. To select more than one disability, hold the "Control" key down and click on your selections.

FreSch!
This site allows you to browse all the scholarships that are only for people with a disability. You can browse them all or narrow your search by selecting one or more of the disabilities. To select more than one disability, hold the "Control" key down and click on your selections.

SallieMae
This service gives students exclusive access to CASHE (College Aid Sources for Higher Education); one of the industry's most respected and comprehensive sources of financial aid resources for college. The Online Scholarship Service allows students to search the CASHE database for funding information from a variety of resources, including scholarships, fellowships, grants, work-study, loan programs, tuition waivers, internships, competitions, and more. You can indicate your disability(s) when filling out your information for the scholarship search. To select more than one disability, hold the "Control" key down and click on your selections.

WiredScholar Scholarship Search
