Miss Whatcom County is a scholarship program that focuses on creating the next female leaders of our generation. While preparing for a culminating pageant at the beginning of March, they train young women in interviewing, nonprofit fundraising, networking, public presentation, talent and confidence. Every contestant will receive a minimum of $200 for competing, with an opportunity to win more. They gave away over $6000 last year, with their current Miss Whatcom County receiving $2000.The winner of the competition will also get the opportunity to compete for the state title of Miss Washington in July, which is the official preliminary to Miss America; the largest scholarship provider to young women in the world. Additionally students must provide an official transcript establishing a minimum 2.3 college G.P.A. If students have not completed college classes, they must provide a transcript establishing a minimum 2.5 high school G.P.A.
