American Indian Endowed Scholarship

The American Indian Endowed Scholarship program helps financially needy students with close ties to a Native American community to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies. Scholarship money comes from interest generated through an endowment funded by private contributions and the state. Students can use the scholarships at public colleges and universities and accredited independent colleges, universities and career schools in Washington. The program annually awards about 15 new scholarships ranging from about $500 to $2,000. Students are eligible to receive scholarships for up to five years.

College Bound Scholarship

The College Bound Scholarship provides hope and incentive for students and families who otherwise might not consider college as an option because of its cost.

The amount of the scholarship will be based on tuition rates at Washington public colleges and universities and will cover the amount of tuition and fees (plus $500 for books) not covered by other state financial aid awards.

Low-income 7th and 8th grade students who sign a pledge by June 30 of their 8th grade year are eligible. Students promise to graduate from high school, demonstrate good citizenship, and seek admission to a college or university. Family income will be re-checked and college admission confirmed after the student graduates from high school.

Passport for Foster Youth Promise Program

The Passport to College Promise Scholarship program helps students from foster care prepare for and succeed in college. In the 2013-14 academic year, the program served about 400 students, with a maximum annual award of $4,500

Through Passport, students receive a scholarship that assists with the cost of attending college (tuition, fees, books, housing, transportation, and some personal expenses), specialized support services from college staff, and priority consideration for the State Need Grant and State Work Study programs.
