Incoming freshmen that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a desire to major in one of the areas listed above can be invited to participate in enriched first-year programs at Western. These programs are designed so that students can participate in their academic interests early on in their experience at Western. Recipients are identified through admission application materials; no separate application is necessary.

Fairhaven College Entrance Scholarships
|
|
|
Scholarships are awarded to freshmen and transfer students who are new to both Western Washington University and Fairhaven, this scholarship is based on financial need and academic ability. Scholarships are approximately $500 per academic year.

Forensics (Debate) Alumni Scholarship
|
|
|
A scholarship equal to in-state tuition for one quarter is awarded to an entering freshman with demonstrated success in high school forensics who plans to participate in Western's forensics program.

Mathematics Memorial Scholarship - Freshman
|
|
|
This scholarship honors all former Mathematics Department Faculty. Several scholarships of up to $1,000 are available to entering freshmen with an outstanding high school record in mathematics who intend to complete a major with a strong mathematical component. An applicant should have taken at least four years of high school mathematics with a cumulative GPA in mathematics of at least 3.7.

Scholtz Memorial Scholarship – Art
|
|
|
One or more scholarships are available for entering freshman that show talent and potential as artists. Admitted Freshmen to Western Washington University who pass the Department of Art portfolio review are automatically considered for this scholarship. Scholarship award amounts vary.

Washington Achievers Scholarship Program
|
|
|
The College Success Foundation in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation award Achievers Scholarships to approximately 500 highly motivated low-income students per year. Scholarships are awarded for four years of full-time undergraduate study, subject to a recipient's continued eligibility. Students must attend one of the 16 designated Washington Achievers high schools*, and complete the application process prior to their junior year of high school.

Woodring Future Scholars Program

Students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement in high school and desire to pursue a degree in the Woodring College of Education are invited to participate in enriched first-year activities to make connections with faculty and academic opportunities in Education. Recipients are identified through admission application materials; no separate application is necessary.
