Student Employee Recognition

Western Washington University employs hundreds of students each academic year. Our student employees contribute to the academic and extra-curricular aspects that makes Western such an excellent community of higher education. Not only do the students help keep Western functioning, but the combined contributions of mentors, supervisors, and peers help our students enter the workforce as better future employees.

In an effort to recognize the excellence of our student employees, the Student Employment Center works with the National Student Employment Association, the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators and the Washington State Association of Student Employment Administrators honor a Western Washington University student employee with a Student Employee of the Year Award. The award winner is traditionally announced during National Student Employment Week the second full week of April each year. National Student Employment Week is a week designated to honor and recognize the contributions of all student employees of Western Washington University.

Help support this tradition! We hope to continue celebrating each of the nominees during a Recognition Reception held during National Student Employment Week. During National Student Employment Week, you have the opportunity to celebrate each of Western's student nominees during the Student Employment Center's annual SEOTY Recognition Reception. The Recognition Reception is a chance to thank each and every one of the nearly 2000 student employees that have a huge positive impact on our campus. Since this reception is not a budgeted program, we rely on donations through the Western Foundation. Without these donations the WWU would not be able to recognize the daily contributions of student employees that help make Western a vibrant learning community. Please join us with your support by using the Western Foundation's Make A Gift web page.
