Paraprofessional

= State Work Study Eligible

Computer Assistant 1  8.55-9.85     
Under close supervision, assists in the operation of micro computer labs, answering routine questions about microcomputers and terminals. Operates printers. May perform word processing duties in the entering, revising, storing, and retrieving of data. Previous computer related experience not required. Generally, performs at the trainee level for computer related positions. 

Computer Assistant 2  8.85-10.60     State Work Study Eligible
Under general supervision, advises and instructs computer users in the use of a computer by providing information requiring previous knowledge and training. Directs users to appropriate documentation. Solves user problems of a routine operational nature. Refers users to area expert when necessary 

Computer Assistant 3  9.15-11.90     State Work Study Eligible
Under general supervision, advises and instructs computer users involving moderately complex duties. Serves as consultant for programming problems of average difficulty. May be responsible for Microcomputer lab. May lead lower level computer assistants, and assist in developing training materials. Required background includes knowledge of a major computer package or language. 

Computer Assistant 4  9.50-14.50     State Work Study Eligible
Under limited supervision, advises and instructs computer users involving complex duties. Serves as consultant for programming problems of moderate difficulty. May be responsible for microcomputer lab. May supervise lower level computer assistants and develop training materials. Required background includes knowledge of a major computer package or language. 

Computer Assistant 5  9.80-19.65     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction advises and instructs computer users in a variety of complex computer operating systems, software packages, and hardware. Serves as a consultant for programming problems and software configuration of a high level of difficulty. May train higher-level computer users and develop training materials. Requires a thorough knowledge of one or more computer packages and computer software programs. Must have the ability to research and resolve problems using manuals and on line help. 

Computer Programming Assistant 2  8.85-10.60     
Under close supervision, performs semi-routine programming duties. Assists or prepares some computer-related documentation. Required background includes knowledge of a major computer language. Also preferred characteristics are experience with timesharing terminals or microcomputers, computer storage media, good writing ability, and knowledge of a variety of computer languages. 

Computer Programming Assistant 3  9.15-11.90     
Under general supervision, performs moderately complex programming duties. May assist in programming problems of average difficulty. Assists or prepares some computer-related documentation.Required background includes knowledge of a major computer language. Also preferred characteristics are experience with timesharing terminals or microcomputers, computer storage media, good writing ability, and knowledge or a variety of computer languages. 

Computer Programming Assistant 4  9.50-14.50     
Under limited supervision, performs complex programming tasks. Analyzes system specifications and prepares programming instruction. Solves programming problems within area of expertise. Prepares documentation for computer users. May supervise lower level student computer programming assistants. Required background includes thorough computer knowledge and an ability to produce good quality documentation. 

Computer Programming Assistant 5  9.80-19.65     
Under direction, performs complex duties assisting computer users with systems analysis. Performs feasibility studies and develops new or revises existing systems and procedures. Designs or revises input data and output information. Prepares detailed documentation. Provides specialized consulting services. May supervise lower level student computer assistants. Required background includes a thorough knowledge in a specialized computer science or computer application area, as well as an ability to produce high quality documentation. 

Crafts Lab Instructional Assistant 3  9.15-11.90     State Work Study Eligible
Under limited supervision advises and instructs students in art shop equipment operation and application. Builds, constructs, forms and creates artistic objects using manual dexterity, artistic skills, handicraft tools and equipment. Works with wood, glass, clay, metals, fabric, vehicles, etc. Assists with care and maintenance of equipment and materials. 

Departmental Graduate Research Assistant 6  18.00-18.00     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, performs complex research duties. Performs a large variety of duties in the design of a research project, evaluation of sources, and analysis of data gathered. May supervise student employees performing moderately complex research duties. This position has responsibilities comparable to a salaried graduate research assistant. Pay rate is equivalent to salaried graduate research assistants. 

Faculty Assistant 2  8.85-10.60     State Work Study Eligible
Under general supervision, performs duties in an instructional setting. Assists instructors by performing simple library searches and grading objective tests or homework assignments. 

Faculty Assistant 3  9.15-11.90     State Work Study Eligible
Under limited supervision, performs duties in an instructional setting. Assists instructors by performing library or other research for academic courses. Grades and/or reads papers and exams. 

Faculty Assistant 4  9.50-14.50     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, performs duties in an instructional setting. Assists instructors by performing difficult and technical library research. Administers and grades subjective tests. 

Faculty Assistant 5  9.80-19.65     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, performs duties in an instructional setting. Assists instructors by performing difficult and technical library research. Administers and grades subjective tests. May supervise other Faculty Assistants. 

Laboratory Assistant 1  8.55-9.85     
Under direct supervision, performs simple, routine or repetitive laboratory duties. Follows detailed instructions in the performance of a single technical function without procedural choices. Operates simple equipment. Handles bulk laboratory materials manually. Measures liquids and solids in cases where only crude measures are required. Maintains simple records. 

Laboratory Assistant 2  8.85-10.60     
Under close supervision, performs diversified laboratory duties requiring the use of varied procedures. Performs a small number of technical functions with clearly prescribed methods and materials to be used or a single technical function requiring some decision making in the selection of materials and methods. Performs routine set-up of laboratory equipment. Maintains records of average difficulty. May suggest simple procedural or methods revisions. 

Laboratory Assistant 3  9.15-11.90     
Under limited supervision, performs diversified laboratory duties requiring the use of varied procedures. Performs technical functions with clearly prescribed methods and materials to be used or a single technical function requiring some decision making in the selection of materials and methods. Performs routine set-up of laboratory equipment. Maintains records of average difficulty. May suggest moderately complex procedural or methods revisions.  

Laboratory Assistant 4  9.50-14.50     
Under general supervision, performs diversified laboratory duties of average difficulty. Performs several distinctly different technical functions. Selects appropriate methods, materials and equipment from those recognized as standard. Operates manual variable controls; such as, rheostats and levels to control placement of specimens, focuses general laboratory microscopes, accurately measures liquids and solids, and sets up moderately complex laboratory equipment. May order routine supplies. Maintains records of average difficulty and assists in report preparation. May recommend equipment purchases. May recommend methods of procedural changes. May supervise a small group of student employees performing diversified duties with clearly prescribed methods and materials to be used. 

Manager Intern 5  9.80-19.65     
Under direction, performs duties in the management of a program, which is specialized in nature. Receives practical experience in effective administration and programming. Designs, schedules, and coordinates activities. Attends meetings as a resource person. Provides suggestions regarding operational and procedural changes. Maintains financial records and prepares reports. May supervise other student employees. 

Peer Advisor 1  8.55-9.85     State Work Study Eligible
Under close supervision, does general advising. Must become acquainted with University and office procedures, related policies, and advising techniques. Takes moderate responsibility for project work. 

Peer Advisor 2  8.85-10.60     State Work Study Eligible
Under general supervision serves as an adviser to students. Through consultation, assists students in solving problems and making informed decisions. Provides information and advice based on knowledge and training. Takes responsibility for some project work. 

Peer Advisor 3  9.15-11.90     State Work Study Eligible
Under limited supervision, serves as an adviser to students. Through consultation, assists students in solving problems and making informed decisions. Provides information and advice based on in-depth knowledge and training. Takes responsibility for some project work. 

Peer Advisor 4  9.50-14.50     State Work Study Eligible
Under limited supervision, assists students in solving problems and making informed decisions. Provides advising based on in-depth knowledge and requires substantial responsibility and judgment. May train and direct other student advisors. 

Peer Advisor 5  9.80-19.65     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, serves as an advisor to students. Through consultation, assists students in solving problems and making informed decisions. Provides information and advice based on in depth knowledge and requiring substantial responsibility and judgment. May supervise other peer advisors. 

Project Manager 5  9.80-19.65     
Under direction, is responsible for a project. Plans, directs and supervises project performance. Is responsible for project costs and results. Assists in the development of research design. Supervises project support personnel. Directs field and laboratory work, preparing reports under general supervision. 

Reader 2  8.85-10.60     
Under limited supervision, does audio recording work of moderate complexity. Operate a four track recording system. Takes responsibility for keeping on schedule with class syllabus. Requires substantial responsibility for meeting deadlines projected by syllabus. May be required to be a reader one-on-one. 

Research Assistant 1  8.55-9.85     State Work Study Eligible
Under direct supervision, performs simple, routine or repetitive research duties. Follows detailed instructions in the collection and arrangement of data. Conducts simple interviews, takes measurements, and performs simple library searches. Prepares simple graphs and tables. May enter basic data into computers, maintain simple records, or perform basic laboratory procedures.

Under general supervision, performs diversified research duties of average difficulty. Performs several distinctly different research functions. Under limited supervision, performs diversified research duties of moderate complexity. Performs a large number of distinctly different research functions involving several procedural steps. Evaluates and analyzes research problems of average difficulty. Adjusts known methods, techniques and procedures. May conduct personal or telephone interviews or conduct library literature surveys requiring selection, evaluation and/or interpretation of data. May enter or retrieve computer data or prepare computer related documentation. May compose letters of inquiry to information sources. May recommend methodological and procedural changes. Maintains records, prepares graphs and tables, and assists with complex report preparation. May perform moderately complex laboratory procedures or assist in complex research procedures. May supervise student employees performing diversified duties of average difficulty. 

Student Affairs Graduate Assistant G  12.00-18.00     
Duties: Under minimal supervision, serves as an entry-level advisor in the Division of Student Affairs/Academic Support Services. Provides information and advice based on in-depth knowledge and an ability to exercise professional judgment. Duties may include basic counseling and advising, events programming, evaluation of financial aid applications, and supervising other student staff members. This position requires an understanding of student development, academics, and the overall goals of the Student Affairs function.

Under close supervision, trains to provide tutorial instruction on a one-to-one basis or in a small group setting.

Under limited supervision, tutors or instructs on a one-to-one basis or in a small group setting. Provides review sessions for academic courses. Researches, formats, and presents workshops for small or large (up to 90) groups of students 

Tutor 4  9.50-14.50     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, tutors or instructs on a one-to-one basis or in a small group setting. Provides review sessions for academic courses. Researches, formats, and presents workshops for small or large (up to 90) groups of students. Supervises other tutors. 

Tutor 5  9.80-19.65     State Work Study Eligible
Under direction, supervises a tutorial program, and/or performs tutoring requiring highly specialized training and skills. Supervises other tutors. 

Writer/ Editor 3  9.15-11.90     
Under general supervision, prepares written text for assigned subjects. Researches and gathers data from a variety of sources and arranges them for inclusion in articles, brochures, books, etc. Assists in the preparation of news releases and promotions. May perform proofreading and editorial work. Checks typewritten material for spelling and punctuation errors, using standard proofreading symbols. Check style of writing and indentations. Coordinates the transmission of initially read proof to operator, receives corrected lines, proofs corrections, and attaches them to final paste-up copy. Checks page layouts of newspaper for errors and assists with headlining and arranging of layouts and written materials. Checks advertising proofs against copy. Assists with typing. 

Writer (Technical)/Editor 4  9.50-14.50     
Under general supervision, prepares written text for technical subjects. Researches and gathers data from a variety of sources and arranges information in a logical sequence. May involve management analysis and procedures development. Edits technical material for spelling and punctuation errors, using standard proof-reading symbols. Checks style of writing and indentations. Coordinates the transmission of initially read proof to operator, receives corrected lines, proofs with titling material and arranging of layouts and written material. Assists with typing.
