Job Title and Description: Volunteer Coach

We are currently seeking adult female volunteers to be head or assistant coaches at our program sites in North Whatcom County: Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden and Nooksack Valley. The fall session starts the week of September 22 and goes through the week of December 1. Program sites meet once or twice a week depending on program location. We provide thorough training for all new coaches (required). As Girls on the Run is a non-competitive running program, there is an easy-to-follow curriculum designed to teach valuable life lessons to girls in grades 3rd-5th. Lessons include subjects such as emotional health, values, cooperation and standing up for oneself. The program finishes with a celebration event that includes a fun 5k event. Coaches do not need to be elite runners. Any woman who is committed to making a difference in the lives of girls is welcome to apply. Job Title and Description: Volunteer- Legal Services

The Attorney General of Washington, Bellingham office, is seeking 1-2 student volunteers to assist in preparing records for legal proceedings.

This volunteer would assist our three Assistant Attorneys General and one Legal Assistant in reviewing and organizing medical and legal records for hearings, and may involve opportunities to attend hearings and court proceedings if the candidate is interested. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the legal field, good organizational skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and client matters.

Hours are flexible during the work week, likely 5-10 hours per week during the school year, as available.

Job Title and Description: River Steward Internship

Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA), in cooperation with the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, is offering an exciting opportunity to become a River Steward. This program involves the community in understanding, protecting, and restoring the salmon and the health of the Nooksack River watershed. From the first weekend in July through Labor Day, River Stewards monitor use and share information on low-impact recreation skills, natural history, and recreation and backcountry management issues with recreational users along the North Fork of the Nooksack River. River Stewards are needed to staff an interpretive booth at the Glacier Service center, to give river talks to rafting groups, to present campfire talks at campgrounds, and to lead stream walks along the Horseshoe Bend Trail.
Training starts in late June. Shifts take place Friday through Sunday. Interested applicants should have some knowledge of salmonids,stewardship ethics, and outdoor recreation.
Time Commitment: 8-32 hours/week
