OFFICE VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Whatcom Hospice Foundation seeks one or more office volunteers to assist staff members in a variety of vital tasks. Duties will be based upon the skills, interests and availability of the volunteer, but can include the following:

• Data Processing. Helping the Foundation in this way will provide the volunteer with valuable experience in the Raiser’s Edge software program, which is widely used in the non-profit world.
• Packet Assembly. The Foundation uses attractive packets to educate and solicit our major prospects. We need help assembling and mailing the packets.
• Letter Production. Each week we produce thank you letters and honor/memorial acknowledgements for all gifts received during that period of time. Assistance with producing and stuffing the letters would be appreciated.
• Prospect Research. In preparation for our Hospice House Capital Campaign, we are researching and building hard files for many of our potential prospects. Research involves looking up names on the Internet using the Google search engine and a variety of other websites.
• Filing System. As we build hard files we will need to expand and update our filing system. This project involves making file and drawer labels using Microsoft Word, then placing files in their proper locations.
• Bulk Mailings. We can often use help with mailing projects such as our newsletters and appeal letters. This project can involve stuffing, transporting completed pieces to the mail house, etc.
• Phone Calls. Sometimes we need to make follow up or reminder calls to Board members, committee members or others.

Ideally we would like to find a volunteer who could commit to coming in regularly, such as a few hours one or two times a week. However if there are those who would like to commit to short-term projects we can certainly use their help as well!
